A Good Sound Piece of Advice

Over the course of this life I've had the great fortune to meet and associate with a great many people. I've learned something from each of them. Perhaps I haven't put all I have learned into practice, but it's not very possible to interact with individuals on any personal level without taking away from that interaction some knowledge of how those individuals reason and act upon their reasoning.

I've known and associated with a great many wealthy individuals. Some of them have been self-made, others born into it and yet another group have married into their fortunes. I've also been able to observe other wealthy individuals either in the media or just in passing. While I try not to generalize and make blanket statements about groups of people, I have been able to ascertain observable characteristics and break the wealthy down into two categories, the newly rich, also called nouveau riche and those born into their wealth, sometimes referred to as old money.

The self made can fall into either category. That, coupled with recent public actions by celebrities prompts this particular piece of advice. I offer this to the newly rich and those perched on the precipice of wealth. Make your new money look old!

Old money doesn't start brawls in clubs.

Old money doesn't get caught in it's dirt, i.e. dogfighting.

If old money is caught, it prepares a defense that brings about swift justice in its favor.

Old money doesn't frivolously and unnecessarily display its wealth for all to see.

Old money ain't old for no reason.

Less is always more.

And that's all I have to say.
